Water District #1 of Midland County

Water District #1 of Midland County (WD#1) was originally established in 1970, when the Midland County Department of Public Works (DPW) began providing potable water to residents of Jerome Township, Lincoln Township, and the Village of Sanford. Over the following decades, the system expanded within these communities.

In 2000, the Midland County DPW adopted the name Water District #1 of Midland County. With the new name came a vision to expand service into surrounding areas.

  • 2008: Service extended into Lee Township
  • 2010: Service extended into Edenville Township
  • 2013: Service extended into Hope Township

Today, WD#1 purchases its water from the City of Midland and distributes it to Jerome, Lincoln, Lee, Edenville, and Hope Townships, as well as the Village of Sanford. WD#1 remains committed to providing safe, reliable drinking water and supporting the long-term growth of the community.
