Electrical Inspector

Role Overview

The Township Electrical Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all electrical systems within the township are installed, maintained, and operated in compliance with the State of Michigan’s electrical codes and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect new construction, renovations, and existing buildings to verify compliance with the Michigan Building Code and applicable township ordinances
  • Review electrical plans and permit applications for accuracy and code adherence
  • Issue permits and perform on-site inspections at various stages of installation
  • Enforce electrical code violations and ensure corrective action is taken

Qualifications

  • Must be registered with the State of Michigan as an electrical inspector
  • Must hold a valid journeyperson or master electrician license
  • Responsible for enforcing state electrical codes and regulations within the township
