Mechanical Inspector

A Township Mechanical Inspector is responsible for ensuring that mechanical systems — including heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration, and hydronic heating systems — are installed and functioning safely in compliance with local ordinances and State of Michigan codes.

Qualifications

  • Must hold the appropriate State of Michigan mechanical licenses
  • Should have relevant experience in:
    • Hydronic heating systems
    • HVAC systems
    • Refrigeration systems
    • Other mechanical specialties as applicable

Responsibilities

  • Review applications and verify that all required licenses and certifications are current and included with permit submissions
  • Issue permits for mechanical work
  • Conduct inspections at various stages of construction and installation to ensure compliance with state and township requirements
  • Confirm that all mechanical systems are safe, efficient, and code-compliant
